Wild Horse Mountain clean-up by the Suzuki Sweep Ups

Event Overview

- Date: August 16, 2025

- Location: Wild Horse Mountain Lookout Carpark (base camp)

- Collaborating Clubs: 4WD QLD, Brisbane 4WD Club, and Wanderer’s Brisbane.

- Goal: Tackle illegal dumping at the site, as well as plastics and general litter, to restore the area while sticking to official roadways.

 

Schedule and Logistics

- Meeting Point: Wild Horse Mountain Lookout Carpark for a safety briefing.

- Base Camp Setup: We’ll have portable skips (rented for the day), a marquee with volunteers handing out water and snacks, and a big map showing the route with sections and rubbish hotspots marked. (The attached map just shows the planned route for now.)

- Groups: Aiming for ~60 vehicles split into 6 groups of 10, each with a 1:10 organizer-to-participant ratio. Each group will focus on a designated section of the route.

- Lunch: We’ll return to the carpark for a cooked lunch organised by Brisbane 4WD Club before heading back out.

- End of Day: We’ll finish at the marked “End Point” on the map—a nice spot by the water for a debrief and relaxation.

 

Safety Measures

- Safety briefing at the start.

- PPE: Gloves and bags for all volunteers (and hi-viz vests if HQ requires).

- Organizer-to-participant ratio of 1:10 to ensure everyone’s looked after.

 

Sponsorship Update

We’re working on securing sponsorships for:

- PPE (gloves, bags, possibly hi-viz)

- Portable skips

- Snacks and water at base camp

- Prizes/giveaways for volunteers

- Special dumping fees for items that can’t go in the skips

- Permit fees from HQ Plantations
