BENEFITS OF CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Four wheel drive clubs are family oriented, catering for all family participation in club activities. The principal activity of clubs is the organisation of four wheel drive trips of varying duration to interesting and challenging locations. Four wheel drive club outings may be day or weekend trips, to extended trips of several weeks to Central Australia or other distant places.

Four wheel drive touring is undertaken in the company of people in similar interests. By travelling in company with other four wheel drive vehicles, areas can be visited in safety as anyone with a breakdown is not going to be left behind!

Other club activities include social outings, film nights, guest speakers, social functions, four wheel drive orientation and awareness days and inter club get-togethers.

By joining a four wheel drive club, novice four wheel drive owners have access to club equipment, club libraries, club discounts and the knowledge of more experienced drivers. Field days are held to show new members the safe way to handle equipment and the correct way to drive their vehicles.

As a member of a four wheel drive club you are part of the four wheel drive movement and are kept aware of the issues and legislation affecting your recreation. Club members are able to contribute to the future development of the four wheel drive movement through promoting and practicing responsible four wheel drive touring.

Many clubs assist local organisations in clean-ups, etc. and the opportunity exists to use your vehicle in the best interests of the community.

The size of clubs varies from 10 members to over 200 members. Generally the vehicle manufacturer based clubs are larger.

Most clubs produce a monthly magazine which keeps all members up-to-date on coming activities and issues affecting the four wheel drive movement.
